Abaddon and Leolalia, thanks for all your hard work. As usual, the start of the thread seemed to be a complete ranting illusion of the brain dead. Your posts merely proved the assertion I had "jumped" to in reading the opening post. Thanks again you two.

Ever Hear of the Kolbrin Bible?
by skyman innever heard of it until today.
this is very interesting in its pages to talks about the great flood in which many people survived.
also talks about how the great plagues of egypt were caused not by god but was caused by a comet or heavenly body called the destroyer that is seen from earth as a red heavenly body.

Why did the JW's Shun my mother at her funeral?
by DaveNwisconsin inmy mom had died on december 9, 2005. she had been loyal to that religion for 35 years.
she had been in a nursing home for the last two years.
some of the old ladies would come and mom would still write a letter to a "not at home" once and awhile.

I think part of the reason JW's don't like going to nursing homes and funerals for the most part are two-fold.
1.) The facing of old age, disease, and death challenge most JW's convictions. While they deny the fact that the WTBS has moved the dates back ever so much, SEEING a dying, dead, or sick person makes the average JW think. It's painful to think. Why confront that kind of questioning when you simply can make up an excuse not to go. When Sister So and So died, many will remember the sister when she was young, spry, and middle aged, hearing from the stage how exciting it is to be alive right now (circa 1980's) that JW's will NEVER face death. Isn't that grand? Bleck!
2.) Sadly, it's a counting time issue. Why go to a funeral or visit an elderly home on a Saturday when you could count your time instead by knocking on doors of empty houses. It's more spiritual to spend 10 or 15 hours a month talking to 2 non-interested ones rather than spending 5 hours a month actually making a difference in people's lives. Sad, but true. -

i dunno, maybe ice hockey sometimes is interesting and a few of the short speed skating events...but ice skating, all the skiing events, even snowboarding....it all seems pretty boring to me.

What would Muhammad do?
by Rabbit ini really enjoyed reading a moderate muslim opinion.
i mean we've heard they are there and all...they are just too quiet.
they cannot be heard over the banshee screaming, burning and murderous radical fundamentalist brand of islam.. i hope to see more and more muslims who will be willing to express publically their dismay & embarrassment over what's being done in their religions name.. what do y'all think ?.

An Observation About Life
by JamesThomas inbeing consciously present in this moment of life's expression, being open and meeting with this present moment of reality, being truly with what is actually here without judgments and mental commentary, does not seem to leave much room for beliefs in deities and their shenanigans.
in fact such imaginings only seem to steal away the vibrant aliveness of here.
so, perhaps, it is when we are not that much present with the truth of life, right here, right now, and rather lost in mental interpretations that we feel a need to become involved in the drama of gods and religion.

I remember lurking here at JWD when that thread was going on. I've found that studying eastern philosophy that it has truly made me appreciate my own life and the others around me. I used to get angry at a great many things. Now I let off steam by simply meditating or just letting things go. Much easier than bottling them up like the Witlesses used to teach. How completely mentally unhealthy is all that pent up rage, repression, and frustration.
It's why I don't get mad at JW's in general. Their own burden is far worse than what they are trying to inflict on them. Hopefully one day most will leave. Although to be honest, there seems to be a few Witnoids, that deserve to stay in the WTBS. Mean, hurtful folks. -

I'm 5'10" tall, 165 lbs., 1/2 latin, hazel eyes, dark hair, and I work for Da Man.
My interests are computer gaming, running, working out at the gym, hockey, biking in the summer, and catching great movies, of which there seems to be a lack of any good ones right now
I'm single. Never married. Looking for love in all the wrong places.
What else ya wanna know?
